- Abstract
Educating in the field of food requires approaches that incorporate its complexity and promote understanding of its various dimensions. In this context, the present study aims to analyse the Programa Horta Educativa, as an experience in this field, considering its implementation in the municipality of Limeira, SP. A methodological-based case study was carried out based on documentary research and content analysis of the reports prepared by six schools in the years 2016 and 2017, and by 23 schools in the year 2018, as well as by the references of Environmental Education and Food and Nutrition Education. From the analysis, it appears that the reported activities address food and the environment as a biological dimension, based on actions for transmitting information and the vegetable garden is considered a food production instrument. Thus, it appears that there is a predominance of a reductionist and fragmented approach to food, which does not understand the relevant complexity and multidimensionality. Therefore, the results obtained suggest that the activities carried out contradict the principles for Environmental Education, Food and Nutrition Education actions and the necessary perspectives to address food and nutrition.
