- Abstract
The article presents a research that investigates the effects of parent-child reading of books and joint attention on the communication and development of children in Australia. Researchers found that the joint book reading of parents and children promoted children's vocabulary development and boosted children's readiness to school. They also discovered that the scheme furnished ongoing and seamless support to children and families and helped stop intergenerational transmission.
