- Abstract
The study analyses the association and hierarchical relationship of a set of individual characteristics with the fulfilment of the level of physical activity (PA) recommended by the World Health Organisation in university students. Approximately one out of every four subjects in the sample (n=100; mean age= 22.4±3.1 years), showed to be insufficiently active, an event associated with gender, fat mass (FM) and type of studies (p< .05). Gender, FM and working outside home were shown to be, in order of highest to lowest relevance, predictors of the active behaviour studied (p< .05). Thus, the subjects at highest risk of non-compliance with the recommended level of PA were women with normal or below normal %FM and who do not work outside the home. Further research on this issue is recommended, as well as the implementation of PA promotion policies adapted to the most vulnerable population profiles.
