- Abstract
The article discusses the debate within the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community regarding the best surgical strategy for panproctocolectomy and ileal pouch. The ACPGBI Consensus Guidelines recommend a pragmatic approach, but the challenge lies in accurately determining the absence of dysplasia. The study by Maspero et al. highlights the importance of good quality surgery in achieving positive oncological outcomes for patients with dysplastic lesions. This suggests that an oncological technical approach may be beneficial when dysplasia is a possibility in IBD patients.
