RICE: Liberia.
- Abstract
The article reports that Liberia will get $40m for rice development courtesy of Switzerland-based Libyan investment company, Libya Africa Investment Portfolio (LAP). The agricultural project is said to be in partnership with the Foundation for Africa Development Aid (ADA). It is mentioned that the rice development initiative aims to make Liberia self sufficient in rice production. According to Filipe Gago, LAP president, 900 field workers in its employment are waiting to start by the end of the first quarter of 2008. It is cited that training will be provided by experts from Holland, Brazil and other European nations, in which new farming machines will be imported.
