- Authors
Volk, Katharina
- Abstract
The article discusses the epic poem "De rerum natura," and the prayer for peace by Roman philosopher and poet Titus Lucretius Carus. It mentions that Lucretius in his poem asked the goddess Venus to take on a Muse-like role to assist him in writing the poem, and to seduce the war god Mars away from his warlike activities. The author concluded that the poem was most likely not written between 49-48 B.C.
