- Title
Steps Taken To Lessen Tampering with OTC Drugs.
- Abstract
This article examines the requirements for tamper-resistant packaging for certain over-the-counter (OTC) human drugs and cosmetic products in the U.S. The requirements apply to all OTC drug products except insulin, dermatologics, and dentifrices. They also apply to liquid cosmetic products used orally, such as mouthwashes, and to vaginal cosmetic products. The regulations require that all included products be packaged in containers with an indicator or a barrier to entry which, if breached or missing, can reasonably be expected to provide visible evidence that tampering has occurred.
