- Abstract
The aim this work was to evaluate the associations between calving interval and milk production traits in population of dairy cows of Slovak Simmental cattle in the period 2003-2009. The basic statistical analysis was performed using the SAS version 9.1.3. The average length between calving intervals was 413.34 days in population of dairy cows of Slovak Simmental cattle. Correlation between evaluated calving interval and traits of milk production (milk, fat, protein) were lower negative r=-0.00924, r=-0.00539, r=-0.0238, respectively and correlation between calving interval and protein in kg was statistically high significant (P<.0001). The most important factor affecting the length of calving interval was the effect of herd-years-season (R²= 0.212786), other effects were the effect of father (R²= 0.028230) and the effects of codes of milk production (R²= 0.001353).
