How Do You Do It?: Putting Glaspell's Mrs. Wright on Trial in a Classroom Reproduction of Courtroom Drama.
- Authors
Denton, Ren
- Abstract
The essay applies Marisa Thompson's TQE Method and Mary-Ann Winkelmes' TILT pedagogy to a courtroom drama scenario where Mrs. Wright, a character from Susan Glaspell's play Trifles: A Jury of Her Peers, is put on trial. The essay outlines how to prepare students for the successful completion of the trial. The activity reached post-pandemic students overwhelmed by their increasing learning gaps and engaged them in a transformative experience that cultivated a sense of belonging, developed and honed critical skills for their success, and increased their motivation to engage in the class.
