- Abstract
The article presents a case of a patient of the Jehovah's Witness faith who underwent staged surgical procedures using special anesthetic techniques to correct kyphosis without blood transfusion. She has received surgical and radiation treatment for rhabdomyosarcoma. Her spinal deformity at age 9, was treated conservatively with a brace worn during the day. Pseudo-arthrosis and infection are the most frequent complications after spinal fusion for radiation-induced spinal deformities.
