- Title
Hegel and Spinoza: Substance and Negativity.
- Authors
Haecker, Ryan
- Abstract
Moder argues, against Hegel and for Spinoza, that Spinoza's substance is internally self-related, even as it is absent of any double, determinative, or productive negativity. One of the signature differences between Hegel and Spinoza lies in Hegel's Lutheran Christianity. Yet the critical theological difference between the two thinkers also tends to be neutralized as Spinoza is exonerated, and Hegel is rendered within a Spinozist space that tacitly effaces the decisive Christian difference of the Trinity.
