- Abstract
The article presents a reprint of an 1861 publication titled "Vindication, Protest and Appeal," by A. L. Blumenthal. In this open letter, the author relates details of his courtship and marriage to Miss Eliza Hamilton, his meetings with the Board of the Jewish Congregation Emanuel in Sacramento, California regarding his wife's status as a non-Jew, Mrs. Blumenthal's efforts to convert to Judaism, his arrest for charges of mental disarrangement (sic), his subsequent court appearance before a judge, and his expulsion from the Congregation.
