- Abstract
The article focuses on the Maurice Amado Foundation, which was established with the aim of supporting activities that emphasize the Sephardic Jewish heritage in 1961. The founder, Maurice Amado, was a successful financier who immigrated to New York from Izmir, Turkey in 1903. The philanthropic activities of the organization included support of institutions such as the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. The charity has taken a special interest in educational and cultural projects with the goal of increasing awareness and appreciation of the Sephardic heritage.
