- Abstract
We contend that business and decision sciences instructors teaching courses that offer student consulting to business clients should be actively engaged in the interrelated activities of sensegiving and collective sensemaking. To serve the client better and enhance student learning, instructors should (1) seek to transfer to students their existing expertise based on the accumulating experience of leading student teams in the past; (2) encourage students to generate client-speci?c expertise; and (3) integrate the emergent novel expertise via collaborative sensemaking with students as partners.
