- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of accurate blood pressure (BP) measurement in diagnosing and treating hypertension. It highlights the use of oscillometric devices and the need for validated devices recommended by the British and Irish Hypertension Society. The article explores different techniques for measuring BP, including office BP, unattended automated oscillometric BP, ambulatory BP monitoring, and home BP monitoring. It also addresses specific challenges in BP measurement, such as in pregnant women, patients with obesity, and patients with irregular heart rhythm. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for quality control and standardized protocols in BP measurement.
