- Authors
McCarthy, Ian J.
- Abstract
The article highlights severe security implications of an expansive reading of the All Writs Act; particularly, in a case where a government agency is attempting to compel a technology company to take actions that undermine its mission to provide user privacy. Topics discussed include proliferation of encryption technology; provisions of the Communications Assistance to Law Enforcement Act of 1994; and the U.S. government's overt demands concerning the issue.
