- Abstract
The article reports on the identified thrips, including Caliothrips phaseoli Hood, Echinothrips americanus (Morgan) and Frankliniella gossypiana Hood that were observed using soybean as a host in Puerto Rico. It notes that there natural enemies and economic impact are unknown. It states that the insects were collected from the plant tissue and placed in bottles with 70% ethyl alcohol and were classified with 5% potassium hydroxide for 30 seconds and mounted on slides with Canada balsam. Moreover, Caliothrips phaseoli has been reported as an economically important pest of soybean in Mexico.
