The article discusses American and Canadian films and musical that explore the limits of Canadian exceptionalism. Topics discussed include the depiction of the absence of gun violence in Canada in Michael Moore's documentary film "Bowling for Columbine," the romanticized view of Canada in Irene Sankoff and David Hein's musical "Come From Away," and the rewriting of the presumption that Canadians are free from racism in "Tasha Hubbard's film "Nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up."
