Title
ICWA and Native Hawaiians.
Abstract
The article focuses on the resolution of the legal case of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and Native Hawaiians. In the case the Supreme Court of Alaska affirmed a lower court ruling holding that terminated the parental rights of Alyssa B. to her daughter. Alyssa made several claims in her appeal, including that the Superior Court lacked jurisdiction because Jaclyn is an Indian child under the Indian Child Welfare Act because her father is a native Hawaiian.
