- Title
"Calling in the Troops": The Uneasy Relationship Among Women's Rights, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Intervention.
- Authors
Engle, Karen
- Abstract
The article explores the support of both conservatives and liberals of the concept of women's rights as human rights, as well as the use of military intervention as a response to certain human rights violations. The author asserts that such call for military intervention blurred the distinction among various forms of violations and harms. She laments the growing enthusiasm for military intervention by human rights advocates, including government and non-governmental organizations.
