- Abstract
The article discusses the struggle of the Sahrawi people in refugee camps in the Algerian territory for national independence. It offers brief historical overview of the Western Sahara conflict which affects the lives of Sahrawis. It further explores the different factors which help these people survive their struggle including the support given by Algeria to the Sahrawi national liberation front called the Polisario which allows the transformation of refugee camps into models of a nation-state and the establishment of Sahrawi state and civil institutions in the camps due to the favorable environment made by the Algerian position.
