- Abstract
The article looks at marketing strategies for individual financial planning professionals, as of 2013. The author notes that the Internet and social media have created opportunities for low-cost marketing by service providers such as financial planners, allowing them to compete with large firms offering parallel services. He differentiates between outbound marketing, such as advertising or cold calling, and inbound marketing, including creating appealing and informative websites that can draw in potential clients open to communication from the service provider. He suggests that financial planners focus on inbound marketing and offers advice on topics including creating effective websites and blogs, producing online videos, and establishing a mobile-device presence.
