Abstract
The article reports on the reluctance of employers to cut retirement benefits despite the difficult economy in the U.S. It is stated that employers value their workers that is why they do not want to cut their retirement benefits. It is mentioned that 39 percent of the companies that participated in the 10th Annual Transamerica Retirement Survey in the country prefer layoffs or downsizing as their cost-cutting measure.
