This article discusses circumstances of the publication of Henry David Thoreau's book "Walden" by Ticknor and Fields of Boston, Massachusetts. Thoreau took the train to Boston several times to meet with Ticknor and Fields, whose Corner Bookstore was a literary social center. He had waited ten years for their publication.
