- Abstract
The study examines the semantics of color adjectives and the role of animals in the Slovo o polku Igoreve (The Song of Igor's Campaign), which was published in 1800 but allegedly dates back to the year 1200. Special attention is also given to the Zadonshchina (The Song of the Battle beyond the River Don), which is known in versions from the 15th-17th centuries. The use of color adjectives and the portrayal of animals in both works do not correspond to Old East Slavic literature before the 17th century, but rather reflect the sentimentalism of the 18th century. Regardless of the question of authenticity, the text from 1800 appears as a political manifesto that calls for social reforms based on Christian conservatism and is inspired by the ideas of Freemasonry.
