- Abstract
The article focuses on the pledge of the students at Lancaster's Challenger Middle School in Antelope Valley, Lancaster, California, which is the "Increase the Peace." It was initiated due to the event at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, when students killed other students. The success of the first annual Increase the Peace Day uplift the Antelope Valley students to enlist the sponsorship of businesses and municipal organizations for its second annual Increase the Peace Day. It is stated, that the Increase the Peace Day can be considered as gimmicky and could be not. In such a way that the fourth pledge will make students act in a way that reduces peer pressure and possible lawsuits and student- leadership was the start of the project that assures continuity.
