- Abstract
The article presents study that investigates the role of tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) in conversion of D-tryptophan to nicotinamide in tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO)-knockout mice. The study used wild-type and TDO-knockout female mice in the experiments where mice were kept at 22 degree Celsius with 60 percent humidity under a 12-hour light. The result showed that both TDO and IDO synthesized nicotinamide from D-tryptophan and L-tryptophan in mice.
