- Abstract
Part of Fr. 2 (32.8 g) was subjected to silica gel chromatography by eluting with I n i -hexane-acetone and enriched with acetone to furnish five further subfractions (2-1-2-5). Subfraction 2-4 (6.1 g) was further purified on a silica gel column using I n i -hexane-acetone mixtures to obtain vanillic acid ( B 9 b , 7 mg) and syringaldehyde ( B 10 b , 14 mg). The combined MeOH extracts (195.3 g) were then evaporated and further separated into five fractions by column chromatography on silica gel (8.2 kg, 70-230 mesh) with gradients of I n i -hexane-CH SB 2 sb Cl SB 2 sb -MeOH. Subfraction 1-3-3 (1.4 g) was further purified on a silica gel column using I n i -hexane-acetone mixtures to yield a mixture of 6-hydroxycoumarin ( B 4 b , 12 mg) and umbelliferone ( B 5 b , 6 mg).
