- Abstract
The study was to explore the effect of harvest period on agronomic traits in western Guangdong. Four kinds of silage maize (Yayu silage No. 8, Wenyu No. 3, Quchen No. 19 and Beinong silage 356) were selected as raw materials and harvested at 5 (t1), 10 (t2), 15 (t3), 20 (t4), 25 (t5), 30 (t6), 35 (t7) and 40 d (t8) after male panicle flowering to determine the agronomic traits. The results showed at the same time, the agronomic traits of Yayu silage No. 8, Wenyu No. 3, and Quchen No.19 were better; with the extension of harvest period, the stem diameter and stem weight of four kinds of silage corn were higher at t5, t6 and t7, and the leaf weight at t5 and t6 was obviously higher than that of other time points. The ear weight and grian weight increased first and then decreased, the fresh weight yield of the four silage maize varieties was higher at t4, t5 and t6. The study indicates the stem weight of silage maize reached the maximum at t5 and t6, the plant height and ear traits tend to be stable, and the yield was higher, which are better for harvesting.
