- Abstract
This paper examines the effects of school and community relations on the effective management of secondary schools in Ogun State, Nigeria. This study adopts an ex-post-facto descriptive survey research design; the respondents constituted of all 476 public secondary school principals in Ogun State. Data was obtained through a research instrument entitled "School Community Relations and Effective School Management Questionnaire (SCRESMQ)," with a reliability coefficient of (r = 0.87). The five hypotheses developed were analyzed using the Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, while results were tested at 0.05 margin of error. Among other things, the study displayed that a significant relationship exists between school community relations and effective management of rural schools. Consequently, it was recommended that schools must be a true agent of the community.
