- Abstract
In a multimodal and interconnected world, it is necessary to explore the potential of educational technologies for the development of a bilingual and intercultural education. The growing consumption of audiovisual products invites us to explore their didactic potential. In this sense, Didactic Audiovisual Translation (DAT) plays an especially significant role since it explores the impact of tasks in which students create their own audiovisual materials through translation. So far, the study of DAT has focused on the five classical AVT modes linked to captioning and revoicing. Notwithstanding, the didactic localization of video games is a DAT mode that had not been explored yet. This study aims at exploring the perception of a didactic localization proposal by foreign language learners. The intervention has been implemented in a sample of N = 44 subjects, obtaining results of paramount interest as they show a very positive perception in terms of development of linguistic and translation skills. In conclusion, it is worth highlighting the role of didactic localization in the development of interculturality, since it is the DAT mode in which special emphasis is placed on this competence.
