- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to identify a specific small-molecule inhibitor of sterol regulatory element binding protein (SREBP) processing. It notes that researchers in this study were able to identify betulin, abundantly found in birch bark, as a potent inhibitor of SREBP activity through the use of chemical screening. The study's findings are said to support the concept of inhibiting the SREBP pathway for the treatment of hyperlipidaemia and other metabolic diseases.
