- Abstract
Fast outdoor painting competitions emerged in Spain at the end of the 1950s, are established as cultural and artistic events of great popularity, organized for the free and democratic participation of citizenship, its organizers propose as themes or references to capture pictorially the places and landscapes of the populations and cities where they are summoned. This text arises from the study and research carried out on such a social phenomenon, raising in what sense this modality of competitions can be an example of cultural activity and a direct meeting space between artists and society. An analysis is proposed as a practice open to experimentation and learning of various techniques and pictorial procedures around the natural landscape, parallel to the scheduled and academic framework of artistic studies at all stages and educational levels.
