- Abstract
In the 20th century, two independent republics were established on the territory of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus. The first republic was in 1918 and the second republic in 1991. The independent Republic of Azerbaijan, established in 1991, continues to exist today and is now one of the most developing countries in the world. The independent Azerbaijan Republic, established in 1918, was the first democratic republic among the countries of the Islamic East and its state system was based on democratic practice. This first republic of Azerbaijan, which was formerly occupied by Tsarist Russia, existed for only 23 months and was taken over by Bolshevik Russia on April 27, 1920. The current article is devoted to the establishment, existence of Azerbaijan Army, and military-political aspects of the invasion by Bolshevik Russia.
