- Abstract
The author reflects on the culture and history of Native Americans from the Ely area of the state of Nevada, with particular focus given to a sculpture entitled "Living Well Because of Mother," by Joe Pachak. The article also discusses the Ely Renaissance Society and provides a historical overview of the way of life of Native American tribes that once populated Eastern Nevada. The article also focuses on the significance of the piñon pine, offering descriptions of it from writer John Muir.
