The article discusses the study conducted by Paul Hergenrother which examined the use of small molecules in creating potential drugs for neurodegenerative disease and cancer. The efficiency of the small molecule activator of procaspase-3 in killing cancer cells in cell culture and in primary human tumors was shown.
