- Abstract
The article presents information on contact dermatitis. Ampicillin has achieved widespread popularity in recent years because of its broad-spectrum action, and drug rashes are being observed with increasing frequency. At the European Congress of Allergology in Berlin, Germany, in October, 1968, attention was called to another aspect of ampicillin allergy, namely occupational dermatitis among nurses, of which he had seen 17 cases over the previous 9 months. Primary irritants are substances which damage the skin by direct cytotoxic action. It has also been assumed that susceptibility to primary irritant dermatitis is influenced by constitutional factors.
