The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court during the era in U.S. political history known as McCarthyism, adapted from the book "The Supreme Court and McCarthy-Era Repression: One Hundred Decisions" by Robert M. Lichtman. It discusses political repression and anti-Communism in the U.S. in the mid-20th century, several significant cases decided by the Court during the McCarthy era, particularly concerning the organization the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA), and what the author calls anti-Court legislation in the U.S. Congress.
