- Abstract
The article discusses about the plan of the Massachusetts school systems for the school department to institute school adjustment counseling service contract through purchase of the service of a social worker from the Children's Aid and Family Service which will provide the necessary supervision. The initial contract, which covered the academic year 1966-67, called for 5 half days a week. However, the counselor's assignment was limited to two schools though there were 11 elementary schools in the country. It is asserted that the friendliness of the agency staff member has won the acceptance of the service by the teachers. The counseling service was extended to other schools due to pressure. In academic years 1967-68 and 1968-69, two half-time counselors were provided by the agency.
