- Abstract
An introduction to some of the articles in the 1991 second quarter issue of "Benefits Quarterly" is presented. The lead article by Kenneth L. Sperling shows the integration of managed and flexible benefits in a way that allows employers to control the cost of their health care plan which can be perceived positively by employees. Stephen C. Fernstrom and Ning Y. Chen focuses on the changes the Financial Accounting Standards Board incorporated into the final Statement No. 106 of the Exposure Draft covered in the the third quarter 1989 issue of "Benefits Quarterly". The authors discuss the compliance strategies for employers. John P. Parks looks into the circumstances under which an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) is appropriate and the plan's tax advantages.
