- Abstract
Current educational reform in Hong Kong includes a priority to develop creativity (Education Commission, 2000). Creativity is a crucial aspect of gifted education as well as one of the nine generic skills that all students should develop. However, attempts to assess the impact of these reforms on the development of creativity are based on Western conceptions of creativity, yielding conflicting results. Based on the New Heuristic Framework, the Creative Inventions Test was developed to reflect better Hong Kong Chinese views of creativity. The construct validity of the Creative Inventions Test was investigated using many-faceted Rasch modeling with 324 Secondary 1 to Secondary 6 students in a local secondary government school. The results showed that the Creative Inventions Test possesses excellent reliability and construct validity.
