- Abstract
In this paper, a new approach of finite state machine approach is proposed for calculating the overall semantic orientation of the user comments on a particular topic. The language used for research is in Nepali. It exploits the maximum uses of bi-directional logic of Artificial Intelligence, which can be called web intelligence in this context The algorithm works in lexicon level. The polarity of an individual keyword plays crucial role in order to find the semantic orientation of the whole sentence-it is just a combination of words. Firstly, the polarity of a sentence is determined in a particular topic and with the help of polarity of each individual keyword polarity, then, it follows in paragraph level if the comment is in paragraph. The polarity of every comment is determined iteratively Finite State Machine and finally, the total numbers of positive and negative values are counted. If the whole comment has greater positive values in total, then, it is taken as positive orientation. Similarly, if the total number of negative value is larger than positive, it is taken as negative orientation and finally, if it has equal number of positive and negative orientation, it is taken as neutral orientation. The performance is measured using precision, recall and F-score.
