- Abstract
This article aims to analyze, from a perspective of Bruno Latour (1994) in his book "We have never been modern", how the representation of non-humans - as the objects, for example - occurs over the time in the context of the Olympic Games. A historical recollection of some remarkable Olympic moments was undertaken, as well as an examination of the images posted on the official Olympic Games Instagram profile. This Olympic repertory was analyzed using the Latournian method of symmetrical anthropology and his concepts of humans, nonhumans, and modernity. This way, it was possible to identify the relevant presence of nonhumans along the Olympic history, establishing the analytical balance proposed by Latour, concluding that the Olympic Games have never been modern, according to the author's proposal.
