- Title
Why is Helicobacter pylori disappearing? More questions than answers.
- Authors
Drumm, Brendan; Rowland, Marion
- Abstract
In this article the author reflects on the decline in the prevalence of infection by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. He notes that H. pylori's rapid decline in developing countries can not be explained by the treatment of infection, suggesting a change in the transmission pathway of the pathogen in humans as a reason. An in-depth discussion of a report within the issue by M. L. Escobar-Pardo et al. on H. pylori infection in children from Brazil's Xingu Indian Reservation is presented.
