UK strong arms industry over drug pricing.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article discusses negotiations between the British government and drug development companies over the pricing of prescription drugs. The Great Britain National Health Service is negotiating with representatives from the biotechnology industry organization and other pharmaceutical manufacturing groups on issues including drug pricing and the regulatory process by which new drugs are approved. The proposed reforms would eliminate the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS), which faced several legal challenges. The new plan reduces the price of pharmaceuticals five per cent. In exchange, the pharmaceutical industry is recommending a reform to the budgetary process of primary care trusts, the service providers in the National Health system.
