The article offers medical news briefs of the U.S. as on February 1, 2012. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) grants fast-track designation to Sanofi Pasteur SA's investigational Clostridium difficile vaccine candidate. An independent U.S. advisory board amends its recommendations for booster vaccines for the prevention of whooping cough. According to a U.S. advisory panel, Merck & Co. Inc.'s Gardasil vaccine appears to be effective in the prevention of anal cancer.
