- Abstract
This article focuses on the prison reforms enacted by the Argentine government under the first term of President Juan Perón from 1946-1955. It examines the government policies related to Argentine penitentiaries from a perspective of criminological positivism. The author discusses prison policies at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. He also analyzes the treatment of prisoners, welfare policies, and the influence of democratization of Argentina on the well-being of the prisoners.
