- Title
The Libyan Crisis and UNSC Resolution 1973: Authority, Legitimacy and Prospects.
- Authors
Noor-ul-Ain Khawaja
- Abstract
The article discusses the Resolutions 1970 and 1973 passed by the United Nations to address the Libyan crisis and determines that the No Fly Zone's (NFZ) efficacy in protecting civilians is yet to be seen and that the "all necessary measures" clause has been misused by the West to justify its military attacks to further its national interests. Contrasting findings are made with the precedent case of the 1990 U.N. sanctioned military action against Iraq when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.
