- Abstract
Introduction: Given the current food and nutritional problems of the Brazilian population, food and nutrition education (EAN) is consolidated as an important health promotion strategy. Objective: Create a memory game with a playful approach as an EAN strategy to enhance learning about healthy and appropriate eating for elementary school children. Materials and methods: This is a qualitative development study. The research was carried out in September and October 2020, in the center of studies in food and nutrition located in the Nutritional Assessment laboratory of the Nutrition Course of a private university in São Luís-MA. The research was divided into three stages: 1st selection of information: in order to select the sources that best suit the game's proposal. 2nd choice of illustrations: a search was carried out for images that could complement the message of the instrument to be created, 3rd development of the game: an attempt was made to develop a game with language suitable for elementary school children, colorful and attractive. Results: A memory game was developed with a playful approach to enhance learning about healthy and appropriate eating for elementary school children aged 9 to 11 years. Conclusion: Carrying out EAN activities with a playful approach for elementary school children serves as a strategic tool, as play brings children closer to information about nutrition and healthy eating, as well as enhances learning, making them autonomous as to their food choices.
