- Abstract
HPLC method was used to determine the contents of phellopterin and 5-hydroxyl-8-methoxy-psoralen in Changium smyrnioides Wolff collected from different organs and different periods of growth. The results showed that roots, stems, leaves, seapes and fruits of C. smyrnioides contain two furanocoumarins. In the roots, the total contents of two furanocoumarins were highest in June reaching 163. 8467 µg/g. In the stems and leaves, the contents were highest in January reaching 606. 1023 µg/g. In the seapes, the contents were highest in early June when the scapes were grown close to maturity reaching 117.1185 µg/g. Furanocoumarins in fruit of C. smyrnioides (to maturity) was the highest, and reached 1070.6326 µg/g. C. smyrnioides is a high quality medicinal plant resource for natural furanocoumarins, including the medicinal and the non-medicinal parts of the plant. It has great potential that is worthy for further exploration.
